What is an Electrical grid Connection Bond?
Connection bonds to the electrical grid are guarantees regulated in Article 23 of Royal Decree 1183/2020, necessary before applying for access and connection to the electricity transmission or distribution network. The purpose of this guarantee is to obtain the operating authorization of the installation, which is essential for the development of projects in the energy sector.

Who takes it out?
These guarantees are aimed at companies in the renewable energy sector, including developers, engineering firms, and investment funds that wish to enter this sector. In general, they are intended for any company whose objective is to carry out installations specified in Article 2 of Royal Decree 413/2014, which regulates the production of electrical energy from renewable sources. Particularly relevant for solar installations (Group b.1) and wind installations (Group b.2), as well as combinations of both technologies through hybridization or incorporating storage systems.
The guarantee has a cost of 40 €/kW and must be presented at the deposit boxes of the autonomous community where the plant will be located, or before the General Deposit Box if the plant exceeds 50 MW. The General State Administration is responsible for authorizing electrical generation installations with an installed capacity greater than 50 MW.
